An additional $26 million has been invested by the City of Sydney on major projects which will improve public spaces and connections to the city’s east over the next decade.
These projects will include safer and more accessible pedestrian walkways and streets as well as upgraded community centres and playgrounds, and the construction of a cycleway which will connect the city centre to Bondi Junction.
Some of the major projects to be delivered in the City’s east will include:
“State-of-the-art community facilities and infrastructure projects will help create more welcoming and connected neighbourhoods that meet the needs of our growing population of families and workers.
“We’re improving connectivity in Sydney’s east by working with the NSW Government to build a safe separated bike lane linking the Centennial Park cycleway with Surry Hills. Our population is growing fast, and more and more people are choosing to travel to and from work by bike – so it’s incredibly important we build separated cycleways to reduce congestion and ensure everyone can commute safely,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
These projects are part of the $1.7 billion package which the City of Sydney has allotted for building and construction for the next 10 years. Up to 400 projects will deliver refurbished and new facilities for communities as well as businesses across the City of Sydney area.
