Two more major upgrades to local Victorian roads are set to go underway and these upgrades will deliver a better, less congested and safer Hall Road and Western Port Highway.

The $169 Hall Road upgrade will include duplicating a 5.2-kilometre section of the road between McCormicks Road and Cranbourne-Frankston Road, extending the existing two lanes to four.

This upgrade will also include the installation of traffic lights at the intersections at McCormicks Road, Taylors Road, Western Port Highway and Evans Road as well as works to improve the intersection at Cranbourne-Frankston Road that will improve the bottleneck happening at that section of Hall Road.

Cyclists and pedestrians will be benefiting from this upgrade as well with new shared paths on both sides of Hall Road together with new street lighting, safety barriers, landscaping and road signage.

A $54.3 million investment has also been allotted to remove two congested roundabouts and replace it with new traffic lights at Ballarto Road and Cranbourne-Frankston Road at the Western Port Highway.

“Anyone who uses these roads will know how badly these upgrades are needed. This will make a real difference to local families,” Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny said.

Pre-construction and planning activities for both projects are expected to commence in 2019, with major construction works set to begin in 2020.

The Western Port Highway upgrade is set to be completed in 2022 and the Hall Road upgrade is anticipated to be completed in 2023.
