Another major milestone has been reached on the delivery of the Spoilbank Marina project in Port Hedland as the final stage of construction for the landside component and landscaping commences.
The works make up the largest work package to date and it includes the construction of marina roads, car and trailer parking, retaining walls, footpaths, landscaping, public amenities, shade structures, barbecue areas and the installation of utilities and services.
Local Western Australian company Ertech has been appointed to carry out the works.
“The Spoilbank Marina has long been a dream for the Hedland community, and it is fantastic to see this transformational project come to life.
“This final stage of construction will deliver a vibrant and culturally rich community amenity for locals and visitors to enjoy, ensuring the entire community benefits from the development of the marina precinct.
“My Government is proud to deliver on our election commitment to the Hedland community,” Premier Roger Cook said.
The $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina project is jointly funded by the Western Australian Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP.

Delivery of the project is progressing well, with the marina already connected to the ocean and new navigational channels created. Meanwhile, works are underway on breakwaters and marine structures.
The marina boat ramps are due to open in late 2023 and the completion of the remaining marine and landside areas are expected in 2024.
The Spoilbank Marina project is estimated to create up to 200 jobs during its construction.
