Resolute Mining Ltd’s $167 million mine expansion project has been given the green light at the historic gold town of Ravenswood, which will bring a rush of jobs to North Queensland. The project will be extending the life of the mine as well as ensure the continuation of 280 existing jobs.
“I particularly want to recognise Resolute for its commitment to employ people from within 150 km of Ravenswood which means jobs for locals in Charters Towers, Ayr, Home Hill and Townsville.
“This investment could extend the mine’s life by 13 years and will mean 100 new construction jobs in the region,” said Minister Assisting the Premier on north Queensland Coralee O’Rourke.

The mine’s expansion is a prescribed project, allowing the independent Coordinator-General to help Resolute coordinate government approvals as well as cut red tape.
This Ravenswood mine expansion is a long-life large scale return to open pit mining at the deposits on Sarsfield and Buck Reef West.
According to Mrs O’Rourke, the Premier’s number one goal was to create jobs and opportunities for locals with this project.
“The State Government is absolutely committed to creating jobs for Queenslanders and this is an example of working with industry to achieve this,” Mrs O’Rourke said.
