144MW wind farm project in TAS to support 150 construction jobs

Early works have commenced on the 144MW Cattle Hill Wind Project in Tasmania, with Goldwind Australia initiating site access construction works at the Central Highlands site.

For this project, family-owned contracting business Hazell Bros has been engaged to undertake the site access construction.

“Hazell Brothers has extensive experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects in Tasmania,” Goldwind Australia Managing Director John Titchen said.

Mr Titchen added that the full civil and electrical works for the project is currently in the late stages of the tender process and the contracts will be awarded once the tender is finalised.

The Cattle Hill Wind Farm will consist of approximately 48 turbines and construction of the project is expected to support up to 150 jobs as well as up to 10 permanent positions once the wind farm is operational.

Goldwind has established the Cattle Hill Wind Farm Local Business Participation Program that will help identify capability as well as capacity in the local community and maximise the opportunities for local suppliers and subcontractors to participate in this renewable energy project.

The new wind farm is projected to be completed by the end of 2019.
